Call for bird photos

Vashon Bird Alliance is looking for great photos for our 2026 Birds of Vashon-Maury Island calendar and the best place to look for talented creative people is on Vashon! Proceeds help support VCA programs.  Deadline for submission is Sunday, August 31.

We’re looking for:

• Photos taken on Vashon-Maury island or surrounding waters
• Excellent photo quality
• Photos that tell a story, show birds in action, convey a mood
• Wide variety of birds species
• Photos from all months/ seasons
• Wide range of island photographers-from beginners to pros 
• We receive many photos of Barred Owls, Great Blue Herons, Bald Eagles and Ospreys-so we are hoping for a wider variety of species with this call out

Submittal instructions

• Give VBA rights to utilize the photos in the calendar and other VBA outreach and fundraising efforts
• Submit digital photos via email by August 31^st to info@vashonbirdalliance.org
• Photos for a fill calendar page (11 x 8.5 in ) are typically 5-8 mb, smaller photos submitted may still be used in the calendar body
• No watermarks
• Please don’t crop the photos
• Submission must include name, address, phone number as well as bird species and location and date captured.  
• Photos taken in previous years are fine! Go through your existing collections and submit your favorites
• Photographers will be credited anywhere the photo is utilized in VBA content
• Photographers must:
• Own all rights to the photos
